The archive is free and open; keeping it so has a cost. This page explains what a donation pays for and what it does not buy.

01Why

Proyecto Libero is free information: the data is not sold and nobody pays to consult it. Keeping it accessible and correcting an error whenever one shows up takes time and money. Donations cover that part, without changing anyone's access.

02What it pays for

• Infrastructure: Cloudflare and GitHub, where the archive is hosted and versioned.
• Artificial intelligence: the models that help build and maintain the archive.
• Services needed to scale to more sports and competitions.
• Repaying part of the hundreds of hours of work already invested.

03What a donation does not buy

• It does not buy the data: it stays free and open.
• It gives no privileged or early access.
• It does not change the content or its truthfulness: no one can alter a result by paying.
• It creates no paywall.

04Transparency

Every year a report is published with what was received and how it was spent. The methodology and the sustainability document explain the detail.

05Who is behind it

Proyecto Libero is maintained by an individual: it is not an NGO or a foundation. Donations are handled as such, with the tax treatment of a natural person.

If you represent a university, an archive or a library, a separate path for collaborating entities exists. See the institutional path
